Shower & Shower

Sonia, Ethan, and I had our baby showers recently. We decided to split our baby shower into two groups to make it easier to plan. So we had a shower mainly for friends and one for family.

Our first shower for our friends was thrown by Kali with help from Sonia and I's moms. We had a lot of good food, great people, fun games and activities, and thoughtful gifts. Our friends and family colored a personalized alphabet book for Ethan. We had sheets of paper with a letter and an object on it. Each of friends and family took a letter and used their artistic skills on it to put together a book. We'll post a pic of it once it is finished.

We also played a couple other games where everyone used play-doh to create a baby. There were many creative entries. It was a pretty cool idea! (pics to come). Another game was the taste-the-baby-food-and-guess-what-it-is. Jimbo and I dominated that game between the two of us. Really fun. Apparently I wasnt supposed to eat so much of the baby food! haha. What can I say, some of it was good! =P

Now for some pics...

Our second shower, for our family and some friends, was thrown by my Mom, Tina, with help from Sonia's mom and dad, Kristi and Greg. Again, we were surrounded by great people, yummy food, fun games, and showered (pun intended) with more gifts. We played a couple games -- a baby word themed word unscramble. I technically won but couldn't claim my prize since the attendants were the contestants not me, but it was still fun. My cousin Chris and friend Matt ended up tying and played Rock, Paper, Scissors in which Chris won. Chris' wife, Jovon, won the diaper raffle. We then played a game where we guessed what items were in the paper bags. We could feel and shake the bag to see what was in it. Michelle ended up getting every item correct and won the game and prize! Another game we played was where we guessed Sonia's waist size by cutting a piece of ribbon, without any kind of measurement.

Annnnnnd, some pictures!

We got a diaper cake! These are pretty cool!

Intense game of Rock, Paper, Scissors!

We want to thank EVERYONE for taking time out of their lives to share in this moment in ours. We really appreciate that and of course we also appreciate your graciousness with the gifts (thank you cards are coming soon, we swear!). We also want to thank Kali Akana, my mom Tina, my dad Jay, Sonia's mom Kristi, and Sonia's dad Greg for all they did to setup these baby showers for us. We are very grateful to have you in our lives, we love ya!!! Everything was excellent! Thank you Thank you THANK YOU!

Nursery Update!

Hey everyone!

Ethan Alistair's Dad here! Been awhile. Here are some updates on "Project: Room Resurrection." Here are a few BEFORE shots of the room, the nursery.

(Reminder, click pics to enlarge them if you want.)

Dingy white walls. Dusty, dirty hardwood floors. Grimy vertical blinds. Clutter. Lots of clutter. Ugly, outdated light fixture. Lots of work needed...

And now for some AFTER photos!
Clean, crisp baby blue paint with clean, crisp white trim. Clean, shiny hardwood floors. No more vertical blings. Clutter removed. Ugly, outdated light fixture to be removed soon. Just a few finishing touches remain...

New Baby Italia Eastside style crib and dresser (doubling as changing table). Cubby style bookcase full of Ethan's books. New shag area rug. And lots, lots more!

Many thanks to my Dad Jay for painting and helping de-clutter and to Alex Akana for helping me put together the crib, bookcase, and of course, the dresser (haha). Thank you to Sonia as well for helping decorate, clean up, etc. And thank you to all of you who gave us gifts for baby Ethan and his room! We appreciate it very much!!

Wow. This has been neglected. (BUMP UPDATE)

So life has gotten CRAZY BUSY. This poor blog has been neglected. We have had both of our baby showers, and I'm now 33 weeks pregnant. I can't believe how fast time is flying. But fear not...here is a baby bump update from 31 weeks. And we will have TONS of new posts coming with the nursery work, and thoughts from Mom and Dad about how this pregnancy has been since the last posting. I hope you are all doing well..and thank you again for subscribing :)

Photo Update - Week 28!

I realized it's been awhile since I posted a belly bump photo update that showed the skin. It's amazing to me to look at the other ones and see how much I've grown. One morning I woke up and literally felt like it really popped out. My belly button is still an innie, but when I laugh, cough, or sneeze it resembles an outtie. It cracks Tony up!! I also never knew I had a freckle inside my belly button lol.

I'm doing really great! I just had my glucose testing last Thursday to make sure I haven't developed gestational diabetes and haven't heard anything back yet. They said no news is GOOD news so hopefully I don't hear from them :) He moves all the time, and they are beginning to change from just little bubble pops (jabs/feet kicks) to feeling like he's rolling. I've even see my belly move now! The other day I was in the bath and he got his first hiccups. It's all been so amazing to feel and I know it's a blessing to experience this.

We should have nursery updates coming soon so be on the look out for them..

Hope you enjoy the pics!! :)

Soni

It's been awhile. Time for an update. What's happened lately and what's coming up.

We've entered the third trimester now. This Thursday will be Week 28! We're entering the final stages, the last third of this journey!

We've begun working on the baby shower - which consists of building a list and gathering addresses. Then our wonderful friend, Kali Akana, my mom, Tina, and Sonia's mom Kristi are doing all the work with setting up the shower, sending out the invites, and everything else. Big thanks to them and we are looking forward to both of the showers. We had to break the parties into two - one mainly for family and one mainly for friends, there were just so many people we wanted to share this with.

With the shower coming up that means Sonia and I have to start and fill our baby registry. So far we have one started at Babies R Us and we need to fill it up with much more stuff --because, you know, who doesn't love gifts, especially when having a baby requires so much stuff?!

A name. Heh. Well...still nothing much to report there. We haven't made time to sit down together and really go over name choices to pick one. We kicked around some names here and there but nothing serious. We have some ones we like but are still waiting for that one name to really stand out...well, another one to stand out besides Alistair =P (I know, I know, not a favorite of many but its working for now haha).

Little Man is getting stronger and I've been feeling his kicks and punches get stronger and feeling them more often. A few nights ago I laid my head on Sonia's belly to listen for the heartbeat (apparently you can hear it that way sometimes). Well, baby man decided to throw me a kick right in the face and followed up with a four-hit combo. I guess I was invading his space and he was defending his personal bubble. haha.

Mini-mister is also able to hear now as well. Which means Daddy is going to dedicate some time for some father-son TOOL time. I saw a youtube video this week, shared by a friend, a mom, who also loves TOOL. I'd have to wipe away a tear from my eye when I see my son do this:

Some stuff coming up...Sonia is taking her glucose test on Thursday. Here's to some good results after she chugs down that sugary drink!!

Baby room resurrection is still coming along. We bought a lot of the big, major furniture we're gonna need. Now I just need to clean the room up, disinfect it, paint, build the furniture, and arrange it. Easy enough. I should have that done in 45 minutes tops. =P

Lastly, today, May 24, is my 30th birthday - kicking off a great year of age. I'm entering my 30s and will become a father, experience a lot of first holidays with the little guy, and so much more. I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks for reading!! =)

24 Weeks - Bump Update!

I can't believe I am already 24 weeks pregnant. I feel like this is all literally flying by so much!! Since the last 'skin' bump pic I took was back at 16 weeks, I thought it was about time to show how much little man has grown!

A shot from the front, which I've never done. Yes my belly button is starting to change a little, and I no longer am wearing my belly ring ;)

And a side shot:

Things are going really well. We actually went out and bought quite a few baby items this last weekend. Crib, Dresser/Changing table, car seat, stroller, pack-n-play/bassinett and a swing. It's time to start really working on Little Man's nursery! We will keep you updated!!

Soni

Here are some of the ultrasound photos from Week 20, 3/31/2011, from when we found out the gender of our baby - which as you all know by now is a BOY!

1) Little guy faced the camera at the end of the ultrasound.

2) A profile shot of baby boy Rossman, including torso, legs, and feet.

3) Another shot of the profile.
4) He decided to wave to us too!
